Graduate Level Course: This course is approved for graduate credit
Meeting Times:
Instructor: Kristina Lewis
Class Notes: Hybrid course: Expect to meet primarily in person on the Monday/Wednesday 9:35-10:50AM schedule. Some weeks may involve synchronous online meetings at that same time or asynchronous work.
Class Notes: This course will introduce you to theories and research on second language acquisition, including linguistic, cognitive, and sociocultural approaches. We will take a critical approach to viewing multilinguals at all proficiency levels as resourceful language users, and we will think about how research informs teaching practice. You will develop skills in reading and annotating empirical research studies in an area of specific interest to you. This can be a great “first” TESOL course, and many students take it concurrently with ENG 443.
