Class Notes: Through novels, excerpts from novels, and other literary works, we will be studying the contexts that have shaped women's experiences in the Caribbean. Authors studied will include Sylvia Wynter, Simone Schwartz-Bart, Jamaica Kincaid, Maryse Conde, Rosario Ferre, Edwidge Danticat, and Marisel Vera.
Textbook Special Instructions: Students may obtain editions of the textbooks listed that have a different ISBN as long as that book is essentially the equivalent of the book listed here. Please obtain the books well before the scheduled dates on the syllabus when the book is assigned
